Case Study
UTOPIA launched in 2003, but the original site design was difficult to maintain and was not expanding well as the site added hundreds of new pages over time. By 2005, UTOPIA was in need of a complete site redesign.
Results
In leading the redesign effot, my goal was to make the new site easier to maintain internally and easier to navigate for the thousands of daily visitors. I designed approximately 30 unique templates that would rely less on graphics and more on CSS styles, such as type styles and palettes of color to better define different paths for different constituencies of users. After creating these high level templates, I art-directed two designers who used the templates to create further lower-level pages. I also worked closely with two webmasters to develop CSS styles that would allow for site expansion, easy maintainence and overall aesthetic appeal.
